Stairway to Heaven – Climbing a Transmission Tower

Absolutely insane (via Daring Fireball). Don’t know how much these guys make, but I can’t imagine it’s enough.

The iPad and Content Creation

Valid points. I don’t have an iPad (yet), but when I get one, I reckon (not sure why I just used that word) I will use it in about the same way. I will create content on it when it’s convenient (on a plane, bus, train, boat, patio, sofa), but I will not be replacing my Macbook Pro with it any time soon. I’ve pondered about the next stage of my technology setup(s), and while an iPad is definitely there, the absence of multiple laptops and/or desktops is not.

How NOT to Get Me to Read Your Blog

This is pathetic annoying irritating crap.
The title of the post is “How to Transform Your Readers’ Experience”. Yet when I visit the site, I get a popup ad to sign up for his newsletter. Well, my experience was transformed, alright, into “I will not read this article now and will blacklist your annoying pop-up ad site.”

Fluid + WordPress + WooThemes Crisp = Awesomesauce

I’ve been contemplating a switch to Tumblr or Posterous for my blog. However, I didn’t want to lose the control I have with WordPress, which has been good to me. I also want to use it on my blog so I can continue to support it at a high level for my clients.

So, I’ve been waiting for something like Crisp to happen. Brilliant tumblog theme from WooThemes. Simple functionality added to easily add link posts, image posts, and other types of posts from a single area on the dashboard.

I use MarsEdit primarily, so going back to the WordPress admin interface to post content was not my preference. However, I was able to make it work by simplifying the screen options (collapsed menu, single column) and using Fluid. I still use MarsEdit for my regular longer posts, but for everything else I am now using the Crisp tumblog area with it’s simple publishing options.

I’m happy.

Chrome Incognito for Web Developers

This is a brilliant use of the incognito (private browsing) feature. Especially the Google Apps functionality. I have all kinds of issues with multiple Google Apps account – this is the easiest solution.

Ironic that I’m using another tool from Google to bypass a Google issue.
