Judy and I recorded our sixth show last weekend, and I think it’s our best yet. We talk about our wish list features for the next great elearning authoring tool. We rant about the flood of PowerPoint to Flash conversion tools, and we drink blonde ales.
It’s going well, and we’re having a lot of fun. I hope you enjoy it as much as we are!
My weekend plans are to add a beer list, a beer recommendation form and a show topic request form to the Emergent Radio site. (And, yes, in that order.)
So. Go forth and be enlightened by Episode #6.
Aperture is always “improving” but never becomes great. I often felt that I was fighting it to get my work done.
Lightroom is consistently good and very stable. I’ve never felt that I was fighting it.
- Marco Arment – Lightroom or Aperture?
I haven’t tested Aperture since the very first version. That being said, I haven’t even had a desire to, because I love Lightroom. It’s fast, clean, and does exactly what I need it to do. And that’s only Lightroom 2. I haven’t even upgraded to 3 yet.
Throw in the SmugMug plugin and it’s almost perfect.
I’ve also just realized I’ve completely neglected my photography since I got my iPhone 4. I’m not sure what that means, but baseball season is right around the corner. I’m not coaching this year, so I’ll be able to take more pictures.
Adobe Captivate: What the heck is g_intAPIType? – Nice explanation from Philip
getURL works in all browsers, but uses a more complicated communication system when sending data to your Captivate file from the LMS. It also makes a lot of clicking sounds.
Lucky Day – one of the best shorts I’ve seen. Ever.
Nerf Infrared Auto-Cannon – Brilliant.
Baylor Rugby Alumni Festival – Work (and life) is keeping me away, but should be another awesome event.
Just take an iPhone 4 – my thoughts exactly. So nice, now that I have HD video capability and a better camera in my pocket. I still use my DSLR for sporting events and some other shots, but I love the iPhone because it’s an all-in-one, for almost everyone and everything.
MiFi of Your Dreams – not exactly, but it’s close. I could do without the steep $150 entry price. However, $40 a month for an unlimited “wherever I am” hotspot? Not too shabby.
I’m getting sloppy with my “This Week in Browsing” posts. I’ll try to do better, because this is info I want to catalog, and it’s info that I think needs to be shared.
The 3rd and the 7th, a short film by Alex Roman – Absolutely amazing. (via Gruber)
Computers are Dumb – Make Smarter Learning – Good article. I am increasingly frustrated with lame interactions in e-Learning. You’d think that we’d have something better by now.
This quote is the key:
“Don’t just have your learners interact with the computer — have them interact with other people.”
Validation, collaboration, accountability, etc. are better defined, delivered and received by humans. Use the computer to deliver some content – use humans to deliver the rest.
Dreaming of an Apple Tablet – I’m in the same boat. 95% of the time, my Macbook Pro is a desktop. But I need it to be portable that other 5%, and I want all my music, files, photos, etc. when I’m on the go. Not sure where I’m headed with my setup.
An Amalgamation of Predictions and Questions Regarding the Apple Tablet – Amalgamation, indeed. Thorough and thoughtful.
Viewing PDFs in a Browser on a Mac – Good stuff from Philip – I’m tired of Adobe.
