App Recommendation

This is a two-for-one.

If you do any kind of design or development, you’re constantly needing to match colors (or you should be).

Nattyware’s Pixie and Apple’s Digital Color Meter (if you’re using OS X Lion, which you should be, be sure to see the new way to get Hex values) are what I rely on. Both free. Both easy to use. Launch, roll over the color you want to match, and you get your RGB, Hex and other values.

I use these almost daily for web design and elearning development.

Enjoy!

It’s Cool To Be Flat (LeeSean Hepnova)

I’m addicted to this ignite series. Great concept. More of my favs coming soon. This one is a great one on design from Leesean Hepnova (leesean.net). Simplify, people!

Mac Tip: Color Matching Tool

I use Pixie a lot on my Windows machines. It’s a neat little color picker app that just works exactly as it should.

I found out today that Apple built one into OS X. It’s probably been there forever, and I just now found out about it, but cool nonetheless, and thought I would share.

It’s called DigitalColor Meter (it’s in Utilities, or just use Spotlight and start typing) and it’s simple and effective.

Particle Tree and ThinkMac have more info on this.
