So nice, now that I have HD video capability and a better camera in my pocket. I still use my DSLR for sporting events and some other shots, but I love the iPhone because it’s an all-in-one, for almost everyone and everything.

I could do without the steep $150 entry price. However, $40 a month for an unlimited “wherever I am” hotspot? Not too shabby.

I had started a post a few months back outlining all of the things I use daily: my desk, software, hardware, backup plan, music library, etc.

Then I realized that it would be a gigantic post and my setup would probably change by the time I finished writing it! So, instead, I’m making it a series. I hope I get some feedback about what I use and how I use it so I can become more efficient and hopefully save some money. A series will also make it easier to update in the future.

Great post from Gruber about iPhone apps running in the background. Here’s a tidbit I didn’t know. Makes sense:

The iPhone (and iPod Touch) only have 128 MB of RAM, and WebKit can use a lot of memory. When memory gets tight, the system sends low memory warnings to running applications, telling them to purge what they can. Eventually, the system will start forcing apps to quit in order to free more memory. That’s why sometimes when you relaunch Safari, it remembers the URLs, but has to reload the content for all of your open web pages — that’s what happens when Safari is asked to quit while it’s running in the background.

I held off on the iPhone 3G when it was initially launched. I came very close to pulling the trigger several times, but decided not to get one. Part of my hesitation was that I wanted to see what Google came up with in Android when they announced their new phone from T-Mobile. It’s now official, T-Mobile now has the G1, the first Android phone. I’m on the waitlist for it to replace my Blackberry Curve.
