Daring Fireball: Another Example of Why ‘Cult of Mac’ Is Held in Such High Esteem

What’s important to Apple about this process isn’t that it makes laptops cheaper. It’s that it makes them better at the same prices.

One of the best lines I’ve read, ever, about Apple. So true.

More About the New Macbooks – 2 HDs in a Laptop!?

APC has a nice little tidbit with more info on the new Macbooks, including this wonderful nugget:

The new MacBook (and Pro) are the first notebooks from Apple to use a SATA optical drive. This means that if you were prepared to jerry-rig it up, you could actually take out the optical drive and put a second hard drive in there. Yes, that means you could potentially have a MacBook Pro with 2 x 500GB hard drives – 1TB of storage in a slim, non-chunky laptop. The pic on the right is from the excellent MacBook Pro disassembly by iFixit.

OneLessDesk – Awesomeness That I Can’t Use

This is a very nice desk pair of desks. The design is awesome, and if you are a Mac user, it’s like it was designed in Cupertino. It’s a bit pricey, and for me, would just not be functional at this point in time, but if I was ever able to get down to one or two computers, this would be perfect and clear up space for more Rock Band instruments.

Heckler Design. Home of the OneLessDesk™

At one time, you needed a desk that could handle a mountain of paper, a two-foot-deep monitor, a printer, and a CPU the size of a Labrador. Today, your entire computer is an inch thick and your printer is in your closet connected to your WiFi.

You have moved forward. It’s time your desk caught up.
